MEV.2. Multiplier Event in Italy

On July 11, 2024, the HEDforALL project hosted a successful Multiplier Event at the University of Genoa, organized by CNR-ITD in collaboration with the University’s Teaching and Learning Centre. The event focused on improving accessibility in higher education through innovative approaches to digital learning and Distance Education (DE) for students with disabilities (SwD).

Key Highlights:

  • Presentations: The event began with an overview of the HEDforALL project, presented by Flavio Manganello, which introduced the project’s goals and current outcomes. This was followed by interactive sessions aimed at understanding the unique challenges faced by SwD.
  • Workshops:
    • Lucia Ferlino led a hands-on workshop, allowing participants to experience the barriers that SwD face and presenting practical, accessible learning materials developed by HEDforALL.
    • Andrea Maddalena shared best practices for creating accessible digital educational content, including examples of adapted materials in formats like DAISY and EPUB.
  • Discussions: Participants engaged in discussions on leveraging AI and Machine Learning to enhance accessibility in education, highlighting future potential for integrating these technologies into inclusive teaching.

Bedeutung: The event was attended by a mix of local participants and virtual attendees, including university staff, accessibility advisors, and external stakeholders. The interactive nature of the event fostered deep engagement, and feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants expressing interest in further training on accessibility practices.
